black midiのギター/ヴォーカル、ジョーディ・グリープがソロアルバムを完成させジャパンツアーで来日決定！
何とジョーディ・グリープが『The New Sound』と銘打ったソロアルバムを発表する。black midiのフロントマンとして、その凄まじい切れ味の演奏力とバンドアンサンブルで、昨年フジロックフェスティバルのホワイトステージに集まった大観衆の耳も目も体も釘付けにした記憶は今も鮮烈なままに、早くもここにソロアーティストとして新しい挑戦の成果『The New Sound』という作品を提示して来たのだ。
ブラック・ミディでの3枚の驚異的なアルバム、5年近くほぼノンストップで世界ツアーを続けていた束の間に、サンパウロとロンドンの2大陸に渡り、30人以上のセッション・ミュージシャンが関わり制作された、初めて自分だけ衝動に任せて作った作品だという。楽曲の半分には、ブラジル現地のミュージシャンらと共にレコーディングした音源が含まれ、プリミティブなリズムやラテン・フレーバーなども大胆に取り入れた大いなる挑戦作となっている。black midiのライブではキーボード、シンセを務めるセス・エヴァンスをプロデューサーに迎え、ハイクオリティで全てを包み込むようなオルタナティヴ・ポップが完成した。
先日そのアルバム・アナウンスと同時にワールドツアーが発表された。そしてここ日本でも、あえて小さなライブハウスをチョイスし5都市(東京、名古屋、京都、大阪、広島)を巡る新しい音の旅に出ることが決定。集まったミュージシャンとファンと共に緊密な音楽体験を作り上げる、この新しいサウンドエクスペリエンスに是非ご参加を！
僕の計画は、『キース・ジャレットのようなことをする』こと。つまり、違う場所で毎回違うセッション・ミュージシャンのグループを起用し、同じようにはできないという現実に耳を傾けることなんだ。
